Rising at the elevation of 8013m, Mt. Shishapangma is the highest peak in the Langtang Himal and is the only 8000m peak located Tibet.The Nepalese name of the Shishapangma peak is Gosaitan meaning “The Holy Place”. The Tibetan name is Xixapangma and it means literally "The Mountain overlooking the grassy plains". The first ascent is credited to Hsu Ching and his ten-man Chinese climbing team in 1964 and it was finally opened to foreigners in 1980.
