Tibetan Cultural Delight – 11 Days

Cultural program in Tibet

With spectacular views of the world’s tallest peaks and awe-inspiring high altitude treks, Tibet in true sense is the ‘roof of the world’.

The spiritual heart of Tibet, Lhasa, has enough to keep you intrigued for at least a couple of days.

While the former residence of Dalai Lamas, the iconic Potala Palace is an obligatory stop for all tourists, the Jokhang Temple located in the Barkhor Square is fast becoming another requisite site to visit.

The Tibetan style of debating draws many tourists to Sera, one of the great Gelukpa religious center, Sera. Sera is 4km north of Lhasa. Another great Gelukpa religious center is Drepung which is 8km to the west of Lhasa.

Another pleasant town is Gyantse, famous for its 32m high chorten, the Gyantse Kumbum. The tour continues further exploring the ancient citadels, palaces and monasteries in the Tibetan cities of Shigatse and Tsethang.

The tour the moves to the birthplace of Tibetan civilization, Yarlung Valley, which is known for the old Samye Monastery. It is considered to be the first great Buddhist monastery in Tibet.

The tour concludes with the excursion to the sacred Namtso Lake.
