Mera Peak via Hinku Valley (6,476m)

Mera Via Hinku Valley

Mera Peak is the highest trekking peak in Nepal at over 6,400m. Situated in the heart of the Himalayan ‘greats’, the view from the summit is one of the finest in the Himalaya with five 8,000m peaks visible: Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Kanchenjunga

An ascent of Mera Peak via a non-technical route offers fit trekkers the experience of summitting a Himalayan peak in a relatively short period of time and without prior mountaineering experience. This expedition would also suit a climber coming to the Himalayas for the first time.

Our itinerary has been carefully designed to allow for gradual acclimatisation, meaning a better chance of safely summitting Mera Peak and enjoying the experience. As a precaution, we carry a portable altitude chamber and satellite ‘phone.

As well as astounding summit views, this expedition offers an alternative to the more traditional Mera Peak approach route from Lukla. Starting instead from Phaplu, this itinerary provides some great ‘off the beaten path’ trekking and fantastic scenery as we make our way up to Mera base camp exploring some of the remote and wild alpine areas of the Hinku valley, south of Everest.
