The surreal beauty of the beautiful turquoise lakes that rest in the foot of the highest mountains in the world is sure to make anyone spell-bound. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will have a picturesque flight to Lukla from where your Gokyo Trek starts. The trail to the hub of the whole Everest region, Namche Bazaar, is compact with rhododendron and magnolia forest, beautiful small Sherpa villages, monasteries, Chortens, colorful Mani walls, prayer flags and prayer wheels. Later, the trek takes you to the quiet and quaint areas of the Everest region as you ascend towards Gokyo valley. The highlight of this trek is the six lakes of Gokyo and the picturesque Gokyo village that is situated on the bank of third Gokyo Lake. The trek also features a breath-taking panorama of Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m), and many peaks of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range as seen from Gokyo Ri (5360m) which also hosts a stunning view of the Gokyo Lakes along with the view of Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in Nepal. Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu

Kathmandu welcomes you with its pleasant climate. Just as you touch down the airstrips we will be present there to welcome you. We will then escort you to the hotel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 02: Rest/preparation

After breakfast, we will have a short orientation about the trek. You will meet your guide who will walk you through the essentials of the trek. Also, you will check the trekking equipment as you prepare for the trek. In case you're short on anything, you can buy it on this day. During leisure, feel free to stroll around Thamel and Basantapur. Overnight at hotel.


Day 03: Fly Lukla (2800m); trek Phakding (2610m)

Tremendous thrill, and along with the thrill you will experience an enormous joy when you reach Lukla as the location of the airstrip is in a quite tricky topography. About 45 minutes of flight over the Himalayas takes you to Lukla. After reaching Lukla, you will head for Phakding via small picturesque villages. The trail to Phakding is beautiful in itself as you will pass through green landscapes of Everest Region with a backdrop of Kusum Kanguru (6367m) throughout the trek. Overnight in Phakding.    


Day 04: Trek Namche Bazaar (3420m)

The hub of entire Everest Region, Namche Bazaar, welcomes you to experience and witness the magnanimous beauty of this region. In order to reach Namche Bazaar, you will need to trek following the trails of Dudh Koshi River. Then, you will ascend through forests of cedar and Himalayan pine. About 6 hours of walking along the beautiful trail will finally take you to Namche. Namche is a small town inhabited by Sherpa people and it is a marketplace for almost all the Everest region. Overnight in Namche.


Day 05: Rest/acclimatization

As you have gained a lot of altitude in a very short span of time, you will need for an acclimatization day. Also, this day will be a rest day for your somewhat tired self. But, in the meantime, you can explore Namche Bazaar: visit the market of Namche, visit the Sherpa Museum and learn about the cultural way of living of Sherpa people, interact with the people there, and do many more things.


Day 06: Trek Phortse Thenga (3680m)

Enjoying the view of Mt Everest (8848m), you will follow the trails of Dudh Koshi River all the way to Phortse Thenga. You will trek through Kyangjuma, which is a steep climb, then you will pass through the forests of rhododendron, juniper, and conifers. You will witness many temporary grazing lands on the way where you can see the yaks grazing, then, finally, you will get to Phortse Thenga. Overnight in Phortse Thenga.


Day 07: Trek Machhermo (4410m)   

You will cross the suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi River and start your trek uphill to Machhermo. You will pass through the settlements of Dhole and Kele as we trek with beautiful views of Taboche (6367m). Afterward, you will climb to Lhabarma and then to Luza. Passing through many steep trails, you will finally reach Machhermo. Overnight in Machhermo.


Day 08: Trek Gokyo (4750m)

Today is the day you reach your destination, Gokyo. You will start your trek by climbing a ridge. The trail then passes through Phangga which then eventually descends to the riverbank. This trail now leads you to the terminal moraine of Ngozumpa Glacier, which is the largest glacier in Nepal. You will need to climb steep trails that pass up the moraines. Trekking through the moraines, you will reach the first Gokyo Lake named Longpongo and then the second lake named Taujung Tsho. Later, upon reaching the third lake, you will rest overnight in the quaint yet beautiful village of Gokyo, situated by the bank of Gokyo Tsho.


Day 09: Hiking around Gokyo

Today, you will hike up to Gokyo Ri (5360m), which provides you with jaw-dropping views of Everest (8848m), Cho Oyu (8188m), Lhotse (8414m), Nuptse (7861m), and other snowy peaks of the Mahalangur Himalayan Range along with a breath-taking view of the Gokyo lakes, Gokyo valley, and Ngozumpa Glacier. Later, you will climb down to Gokyo and explore the village. Overnight in Gokyo.


Day 10: Trek Dhole (4090m)

Today’s trail is steep in most of the places. You will pass through Machhermo, where you cross through sandy spurs before crossing the river and descending to the valley. Your trail will then descend to Luza and then to Lhabarma. The trail today goes mainly through juniper bushes which eventually take you to Dhole. Overnight in Dhole.


Day 11: Trek Namche Bazaar

To get to Namche Bazaar from Dhole, you will pass through rhododendron forest, juniper and conifer forests, small monasteries, Mani walls, stone steps, and many beautiful Sherpa settlements. You will follow Dudh Koshi River downstream as you descend to Namche Bazaar via Phortse Thanga, Mong, Sanasa, and Kyangjuma. Overnight in Namche.


Day 12: Trek Lukla

Today you will trek back to the Lukla for the last day of your trek. You will retrace your route via Phakding and walk past the many Sherpa villages located en route. You will walk through rhododendron and Magnolia forest as you descend alongside Dudh Koshi River to reach Lukla. In the evening, you can explore the village and interact with the locals. Overnight in Lukla.


Day 13: Fly Kathmandu

You will board the 45-minute Lukla-Kathmandu flight early in the morning. This short flight will fly you above different topography of Nepal before you arrive in Kathmandu. You will once again be received by our representative, who will drive you to your hotel. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.


Day 14: Depart Kathmandu

One of our office representatives will escort you back to the airport for your further departure.

All visitors except the Indian nationals must hold a passport and valid visa in order to enter Nepal. Visas can be obtained at the Nepalese diplomatic missions and consulates abroad and also at entry points in Nepal. In order to obtain a visa at the airport or any of the land entry points, you are required to complete a visa form and provide a recent passport photograph and payment in cash.

Tourist Visa Extension

If you wish to extend your visa, you can do this at the Department of Immigration in Kathmandu

The visa extension fee for 15 days or less is USD 30 or equivalent convertible currency

The visa extension fee for more than 15 days is USD 2 per day

Tourist visas can be extended for a maximum period of 150 days in a single visa year (January to December)
